Make A Home Inspired by the Culture and Beauty of India

India has a deep culture, with some amazing features, patterns and textiles that you can add to your home decor.

There’s something special about a desi design that has you falling in love with it all the time.

Indian interiors are a mixture of the cultures, right from Jaipur’s earthiness, to the greens in Kerela, and the colors of Punjab.

The complex evolution that India has gone through has made it a really amazing country to be in, and take inspiration from for your new home decor!

Let’s begin the article so that you can implement these styles into your home!

  1. Wooden Furniture

One of those elements that is a quintessential to create an Indian culture inspired home is wood. You may have some traditional cozy chairs, a wooden partition wall, or even a heavy-duty dining table made out of pure wood. The earthy tone and carving on these items create a wonderful look. No only do they tell a story of our heritage, but boost the #VocalforLocal initiative.

  1. Down to Earth Seating

If you look at the history, we’ve had a tradition of being seated on the floor. So, why not amplify this element and create a living room that has either low heighted sofas or bring in diwans with super soft seats. You could also use ottomans and pouffes to create a different look, one that is obviously Indian with a hint of modern! Also, make sure that you bring in a lot of colors and rugs into this decor!

  1. Informal Seating

An Indian inspired decor is incomplete without having a jhula in your home. Most apartments today don’t allow us to place a jhula on the balcony, as we’d like. The next best option is to place it in your living room or living + dining space. Try to keep the jhula seat simple with chains that are heavy and well-designed. It would be a great plus if they were brass! Decorate the jhula with some of our awesome cushion covers!

  1. Bright Colors

India is full of bright and vibrant colors that are capable of lifting your mood immediately. Yellows, blues, and reds are often used to show off the richness in one’s home as well as spread a sense of calm. Combining these with hues of white and grey along with some ambient lighting will be an idea way to create an Indian inspired home decor. You can also go for something that is a bit modern and chic, while keeping the essence of an Indian traditional home intact.

  1. Revive the Old

Old cabinets, cupboards, and chairs have a certain essence to them that does not seem to fade. Bringing a new life to these pieces could truly be the creating of the Indian style of home you want. Add some color and twist to these furniture pieces to bring out its true beauty. Another thing you could do is to leave them the way they are, their original wornout selves.

  1. Flooring Greatness

If you want an authentic Indian home decor then the best way to do so is to bring in kota stone flooring. Polishing the stone tiles can bring in a posh yet very traditional look for your home. It creates a gorgeous concrete like effect and is known to keep the temperatures down. You could also choose other stone flooring options like sandstone, granite, slate, or limestone. All of these will have to be treated, so make sure you have enough time to plan and present!
